TREATMENT OF DENTAL FLUOROSIS

Dental fluorosis is a  common disorder which is an effect of fluoride overdose.It is caused due to increased ingestion of fluoride over an extended period of time.

It generally represented as white spots on the teeth. The severity of the condition depends on the dose, duration and age of the individual during the exposure.

Mild form of dental fluorosis is the most common type which is characterized by a small, opaque, paper like areas which are scattered irregularly over the tooth.

-In moderate to severe cases of dental fluorosis, the white stains are generally changed to brown spots and can also represent as brown stains which are widespread over the tooth and often the teeth has a corroded looking appearance.

Dental fluorosis can cause permanent damage to your teeth. The treatment option and cost depends on the severity of each case :

  • Mild forms of dental fluorosis can be treated with the help of teeth whitening.
  • Moderate to severe forms can be esthetically corrected with the help of dental veneers and laminates.
